Western Jets vision and history

Sub-Primary team in action in our first year at ETSA Park.

Vision
  • We strive to develop and encourage our players to achieve their potential and be recognized as a competitive and successful netball club.
History
1995
  • The club started as a school team with 8 players which decided to play at Marleston League because of the cheap fees and the school uniform could be worn, hence the original black and white colours.
1996
  • One Junior team and two Senior teams.
1998
  • Ten teams and Michelangelo became a club, with the objectives of the club decided.
1999
  • The Club became incorporated as Michelangelo Netball Club.
  • Catholic Church Parish at Glenelg North provided an old classroom to use as clubrooms, and two courts for club use.
  • Sponsorships and grants help provide equipment, re-marking courts and renovation of clubrooms.
  • Joined the Quit Campaign, Active Australia and Aussie Sports CAPS scheme.
  • The Club expanded to18 teams,
  • The U16 team helped design a body suit and Club logo.
  • A Management Committee structure established
2000
  • Clubrooms renovated and carpeted with a small area with gym equipment.
  • Our first Inter team entered the summer competition at ETSA Pk, finishing minor premiers.
  • BBQ's Galore offer use of their facilities for sausage sizzle fundraising.
  • Joined SA Sports Federation.
  • Club established 24 teams.
2001
  • 6 teams playing ETSA Pk. With the club now fielding 31 teams.
  • Summer premierships in B4, Sub-junior3 and Primary 3 grades
2002
  • 36 teams, 10 at ETSA Pk. C2 premiership with Primary 3 team runners-up
2003
  • Club wins B3 premiership and sub-junior 7 premiership, with sub-junior 3 team runners –up
2004
  • 5 teams in grand finals (C1, sub-Junior 4 & 5, Primary 1 and 7, with B2 & sub-junior 7 teams knocked out in preliminary finals.
  • 17 teams in summer 2004/5 competition.
  • Updated and revamped constitution adopted.
  • Name change and new look pursued
  • Sponsorship drive to establish a firmer financial footing for the club.
